Public Health specialists with nutrition expertise

Jean Baker has a Master's degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan and has worked internationally for over 25 years. Her areas of expertise span nutrition, maternal and child health, and family planning. She has written on the promotion of exclusive breastfeeding and on maternal nutrition in Africa. She is a Vice President and Director of the AED Center for Family Health as well as Director of the Gates-funded project Alive & Thrive. She has lived and worked in Pakistan, Thailand, Kenya, and Nepal.

Sandra Callier has more than 30 years of experience in health/nutrition activities  for USAID, USDA, Peace Corps, NGOs, and the private sector, including seven years managing major USAID global health projects and demonstrated skills in program design, evaluation, leadership, and organization development.  As the LINKAGES Deputy Director, she oversaw and directed closeout for 12 country programs and a range of IYCF activities. She spent four years as the USAID Regional Health/Nutrition Officer for Central America, managing regional initiatives in child survival, nutrition, and food security, and two years as a nutrition planning advisor in El Salvador within the Ministry of Planning. She is fluent in Spanish and has an MA from Johns Hopkins SAIS.

Earnest Muyunda, Regional Nutrition & HIV Advisor for FANTA-2, brings a rich technical background and 20 years of experience in health and nutrition, including five years with AED as Task Leader of a global AIDS program and as the LINKAGES Project's Regional Director in Africa. Earnest has extensive experience managing USAID-funded nutrition and health programs in the region and providing technical assistance in nutrition, HIV, PMTCT, and maternal health. Earnest is a medical doctor and has a Masters in Public Health from University College Dublin.

Jean T. Tshiula is a pediatrician from the DR Congo with extensive experience in organizing and conducting capacity building/training programs in HIV/AIDS, infant and young child feeding and nutrition, diarrheal diseases, and family planning. He also has experience in strategic planning and program implementation to integrate maternal nutrition and optimal infant and young child feeding in the context of HIV/AIDS into health care services at facility and community levels as well as in related behavior change communication activities. He has worked in Central, Southern, and West Africa for over 16 years and has provided technical assistance in Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Madagascar, Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, Nigeria, Haiti, Sudan, and the DRC. Presently he is Senior Technical Advisor for AED/CAP (Capable Partners Program) in South Africa. He speaks French, Swahili, Lingala, Tshiluba, and English.
